If you can’t even trust the police to keep you safe? Who can you rely on?
After over a week of struggling to identify the officers involved, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate has arrested 11 Tshwane Metro Police officers.
This is after IPID released a video showing a man, Bheki Shiba, with injuries up and down his body.
Shiba and two others were allegedly beaten and sjamboked by the 11 officers.

Crime and the police

The directorate met with Shiba and other victims in the days after the incident. Despite reaching out to the Tshwane Metro Police Department, IPID was left furious after they were unable to identify the officers involved.
IPID says it’s disappointed that the TMPD officers did not come forward.
But thanks to “creative methods” a breakthrough was made on Friday.

“The department had to come up with other strategies in order to identify and track the officers down.We arrested 11 officers of which two are females and 9 are males. The suspects will appear in court on Monday the 18th of October 2021 and will remain in custody at Pretoria Central Police station until they appear in court on Monday.”
