Chief Justice David Maraga’s lawyer Danstan Omari has responded to claims made by Mary Kwamboka who accused him of being a ‘deadbeat’ father.
The woman took social media by a storm on Tuesday, June 30, following a video of her causing a scene at the Milimani Law Courts over an alleged affair with Maraga.
Omari responded noting that he had written to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to look into the documents presented by Kwamboka.
“It has been a war that has been pushed to him as the CJ. Now the war is being pushed to the CJ in his personal capacity, we shall be writing to the DPP and Inspector General [of Police] to investigate the documents that have been annexed to this court,” stated Omari.
The lawyer went on to debunk the birth certificate presented by Kwamboka pointing out glaring mistakes in the document.
Omari noted that there is no registrar of births by the name F.O Shamwata in the country.
He added that there has been no register officer by the name N.P Otieno in the Nairobi office hence indicating that the certificate was fake.
He claimed that there had been intense pressure for Maraga to resign before his term came to end on January 12, 2021.
Omari noted that the pressure came as a result of Maraga insisting on the appointment of the 41 new judges proposed by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The banners and posters placed on various points in Nairobi and the alleged love affairs involving Maraga did not push Maraga to resign according to Omari.
Adrian Kamotho Njenga had filed a petition to have Maraga removed from his position alongside six other members JSC but Omari stated that Chief Justice was ready to litigate over the petition at Uhuru Park in the full glare of the public.
