S’bu Nkosi returns to boost Sharks ahead of Bulls clash

-

Springbok winger S’bu Nkosi is back in contention for a spot in the Sharks matchday squad for the match against the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.

The Rugby World Cup-winner is yet to feature in the inaugural Super Rugby Unlocked tournament after battling injury.

Sharks boosted by returning stars

He is one of four first-team players back to boost the Durban franchise, who are keen to maintain a perfect start to the competition after scraping past the Lions in the opening week.

Also back from injury is fellow winger Madosh Tambwe, who too sat out the match against the Lions, as well as new signing James Venter.

The other player returning to compete for a spot against the Bulls is hooker Kerron van Vuuren.

Righting wrongs

The Sharks had a bye in week two of the competition, following their 19-16 victory against the Lions.

“The bye week was good for the body, for the guys to get some rest, to reset and come back firing for this game,” Sharks scrumhalf Sanele Nohamba says.

The 21-year-old added;

“This week, it’s a change of mindset, to do what we do well,” he admits. “What we need to look at is two things, the break-down and our mindset, these are the things we picked up from that game. We’ve been fixing that and we’re now ready to go.”

The match against the Bulls will be the Sharks’ second visit to Loftus since the game resumed after the lockdown.

Last time the two teams met was in an exhibition match, where the men from Durban were thoroughly beaten.

Nohamba says an improved kicking display this time around could see his side over the line.

“If our kicking game is more accurate then we’ll be sorted,” he said. “The Bulls are going pretty well, they’re a physical side and that’s what we’re expecting from them this weekend. It’s up to us to match their physicality and then we’ll stand a good chance against them.”
