Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

  • Yellow warning (L2) for severe thunderstorms with a high likelihood of minor impacts including localized flooding susceptible to roads, low-lying areas and bridges. Possible large amounts of small hail that might cause structural damage. The impacts are possible over Gauteng, north-eastern parts of the North West Province, Mpumalanga Highveld and the southern parts of Limpopo.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold with widespread showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Morning fog patches over the escarpment and Highveld, otherwise cloudy and cool with widespread to scattered showers and thundershowers, but
isolated in the north-east. It will be cold to very cold over the escarpment.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Morning fog patches in the east, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers in the south and western parts, otherwise isolated.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and warm in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east. It will be cloudy in the north-east with widespread showers and thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, but scattered in the north-east where it will be cold.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine to partly cloudy and cool to warm, but cold in the south-west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool along the south coast and eastern interior at first, otherwise fine to partly cloudy and cool but warm in the west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly but easterly along the south coast.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool, with light rain and showers along the coast and adjacent interior.

The Western Half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly to easterly.

The Eastern halfTemperature: Cloudy and cool, with light rain and showers in places south of the escarpment.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate southeasterly to easterly

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog over the north-eastern interior, otherwise cold but cool in places in the east. Isolated showers and thundershowers are
expected but scattered in the north.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.
