Atwoli: I splashed Ksh200M on Mudavadi [VIDEO]

  • Central Organization of Trade Unions of Kenya (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli revealed that he spent Ksh200 Million on ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Atwoli was speaking on Tuesday, November 17 as he was drumming up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.

“I looked at the constitution we passed in 2010 but Kenya was not on the right path because power was based on a winner takes it all system.

“After 2013 we had two tribes in power, we (Luhya) are second in terms of population, that is why in 2016 I used Ksh200 Million to have Mudavadi in power,” he noted.

In the run in to the 2017 General Elections, there were talks of Mudavadi carrying the NASA presidential ticket to face off against the incumbent – President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The ANC Party Leader admitted in his biography, Soaring above the Storms of Passion that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was not the best presidential candidate for NASA.

Mudavadi claimed that there was a general feeling that Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and himself stood a better chance but the NASA team ultimately decided on Raila.

However, Musalia ultimately supported Odinga as the 2017 presidential candidate alongside the rest of the NASA principals – Kalonzo Musyoka; Moses Wetangula; and Isaac Rutto.

Atwoli also hit out at those opposed to the BBI Taskforce Report accusing them of being champions for the winner takes it all electoral system.

The BBI signature collection exercise will officially be launched on Thursday by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake partner Raila.

The COTU boss urged those who are against the BBI to mobilise themselves and engage in a democratic election.

“Signatures are being launched on Thursday at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) you are either with us or you are not

“If you are not for that, my friend this is a democratic society, organise yourselves and meet us on the ballot,” Atwoli added.
