Dublin residents asked to conserve water due to burst pipes

People living in Dublin are being asked to conserve water and check for leaks due to a number of burst pipes.

Recent freezing temperatures and the subsequent thaw resulted in a higher than normal volume of bursts in the public network for this time of year.

Irish Water also said there had been a steady increase in demand over the Christmas period, spiking in recent days.

Tom Cuddy, head of operations at Irish Water, said the network was working at its limit. He asked people to check for leaks and to only use what they need while maintaining public health guidelines on hand washing and hygiene.

Repairs are being carried out as quickly as possible in line with Covid-19 protocols.

Any leaks on the public network should be reported to Irish Water on 1850 278 278.
