This was soon after he was substituted due to a shoulder injury, and to some, this was a sign of disrespect by Katsande towards his teammates.

Nyathi admits everyone will have a different opinion but he cited the players were never encouraged to be on their cellphones during his playing days.

“It’s anyone’s opinion really,” Nyathi told TheSouthAfrican.com.

“We were never really encouraged to have our cellphones on, let alone be in the dressing rooms with our cellphones but maybe times have changed, I don’t know,” he said.

Nyathi, however, said Katsande cannot be crucified as yet because no one really knows what the disciplinary rules are within the Chiefs team.

But he admits cellphones were switched off and put away as soon as they had their pre-match talk started back in the day.

“I think what we saw will have many people commenting about it but what the disciplines are within the team, obviously, we need to consider that,” he continued.

“If he has a phone, I am sure the team doesn’t have a problem with it but we were never encouraged.

He added: “As soon as we had the pre-match talk, the focus was always on the game and phones would be switched off and put away.”
