Adrian to consider Liverpool future after Champions League final

Adrian has confessed that he was frustrated with his lack of opportunities at Liverpool this season and he will evaluate his options after the Champions League final.

Hailed as one of the best backup goalkeepers around when he joined Liverpool in 2019, a handful of unconvincing showings saw Adrian tumble further down the pecking order, with 23-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher often excelling when called in to replace Alisson this year.

In the end, Adrian managed just one appearance in the Carabao Cup this season, and he admitted to El Larguero that he is not happy with his lack of minutes.

“Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world,” Adrian explained. “We all want to play and this season has not been as I would have liked.

“When we finish the season, we will assess everything. I still have a lot to contribute. I love my profession and I’m being a professional. We will assess when the time is right.”

On whether he would look to return to Spain, Adrian added: “I would say yes, with a little more force. Obviously, the earth pulls a little, I would like to return to La Liga, but that is always an opportunity. But I still have a year left on my contract.”

Kelleher has often been linked with a loan move away from Liverpool, and should such a move transpire, then there would be more opportunities for Adrian to play.

However, the Daily Mail state that Liverpool plan to keep Kelleher around as Alisson’s understudy and those in charge at Anfield want to bring in a new goalkeeper to put even more pressure on the duo, suggesting there is no future for Adrian at the club.

The former West Ham and Real Betis stopper has extensive experience in the Premier League, playing 150 times for the Hammers between 2013 and 2019 before making the move to Liverpool.
