A cyclist died after a collision with a vehicle in Kempton Park on Sunday afternoon.

ER24 spokesperson Ineke van Huyssteen said the male cyclist sustained critical injuries in a collision with a vehicle on Bronkhorstspruit Street in Kempton Park.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 16h00, they found the cyclist lying on the ground a few meters from his bicycle.

“Upon further assessment, he was found to be in a critical condition.”

She said paramedics immediately initiated advanced life support interventions before transporting the man to the hospital for further medical care.

“Unfortunately, once at the hospital, the man’s vital signs deteriorated rapidly, and despite the best efforts of all, he was declared dead shortly afterward.”

Van Huyssteen said the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown to our paramedics, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.

Meanwhile, in a separate Gauteng accident, one person sustained fatal injuries, while three others were left injured following a single-vehicle rollover on the N12 in Fochville on Sunday afternoon.

She said when ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 16h30, they found a vehicle off the roadway well alight in the veld.

“The fire department was busy extinguishing the fire. Upon further assessment, three people were found lying in the veld.”

She said they were found to have sustained moderate injuries.

“One person was found inside of the vehicle but had unfortunately sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.”

Van Huyssteen furthermore said ER24 and the Provincial EMS treated the patients at the scene before transporting them to the hospital for further medical care.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not known to our paramedics.”
