EFF weighs in on Parklands ‘prostitution scheme’

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Western Cape has called for the leaders of an under age prostitution ring in Parklands, Cape Town to be arrested.

This week, allegations surfaced that adolescent girls in Parklands are having sexual intercourse with older men in an escort kind of arrangement.

The South African Youth Council in the Western Cape made a number of astonishing claims, many of which have been submitted to the police this week. The group is also hoping to take this matter further, by lobbying the Western Cape Police Commissioner for further input.

According to sources in the Western Cape, the underage prostitution scheme involved a number of adolescent girls, the youngest of which is understood to be a Grade 9 student. SAYC is now asking the authorities to intensify their tracking of illegal immigrants, in suburbs like Delft and Parklands.

“The South African Youth Council has learned about a disturbing trend of foreign-led prostitution of adolescent girls in Cape Town suburbs. The most recently exposed of these incidents is of a young Grade 9 learner from Delft that occurred in Parklands.

“We view the Parklands incident as statutory rape, a serious criminal charge as per the country’s law and we are delighted that structures of the community have opened a case on the matter. We will soon be writing to the SAPS Western Cape Police Commissioner.”

The EFF said what happened in Parklands is an indictment of society that has failed to protect the girl child from hyenas who groom, traffic and prey on young girls and women for the sexula gratification.

“We call on law enforcement to arrest these rapists who violate the bodies of young girls and women. A rapist is a rapist and a criminal is a criminal and they must be treated as such regardless of their nationality and social status.”
