eThekwini Municipality residents are facing a water outage in some parts of the city on Thursday night.

eThekwini Municipalty advised residents in a statement released late on Thursday afternoon that the city’s management was aware of a water outage in some suburbs in the South Durban area. The municipality said that it might take a day or two for its water services to be fully restored to the affected suburbs.

“The public is informed of water interruptions in the South of Durban due to a faulty valve,” the city said.  

For this reason, some areas in the South of Durban are already experiencing water outages or intermittent water supply. Repairs are currently underway,” eThekwini Municipality said.

“The Municipality is projecting that it might take a day or two for water to be fully restored,” the municipality said.

eThekwini Municipality noted that it was aware of at least ten suburbs in the South of Durban area have been affected by the water outage at this stage. These included:

  • Prospecton
  • Isiphingo
  • Amanzimtoti
  • KwaMakhutha
  • Ezimbokodweni
  • Adams
  • D1060
  • Mgobhozini
  • Mfume
  • Umkhomazi

The city said the additional areas impacted by the outage included the Northern part of Ugu District Municipality. 

“The Municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused and request that the public be patient during this period,” the city said.
