Google is known for adding a bit of fun to its search engine through Easter eggs and minigames. And the fun doesn’t stop as Google has added the Katamari minigame to its collection.
The original game was launched for PlayStation 2 in 2004, and you could play as the “Prince of All Cosmos”. As The Prince, you had to roll up a ball to collect buckets, fish, or even fire extinguishers, among other random objects, to replace the destroyed sky stars.
However, the stakes aren’t that high in Google’s minigame, so you can play it stress-free during a short break.
How to Play Katamari on Google
First, you have to make a Google search for Katamari or Katamari Damacy. Then, to start the game, click the Katamari symbol from the top-right corner.
Once you do that, the game will start.
To control the sphere, you have to use the keyboard arrows. As the sphere rolls around your screen, you’ll notice it will pick up everything, including titles, hyperlinks, numbers, and even video thumbnails.
While Google instructs you to control the sphere using your keyboard, you can also use your mouse or touchpad. All you have to do is click where you want the sphere to go.
Unlike the original game, there’s no time limit. You can even minimize the window and nothing will change until you move the sphere again. This way, you can get deep work done between your Katamari playing sessions.
Can You Play Katamari on Mobile?
If you’ve run out of things to play on your daily commute, we have good news. You can play Google’s Katamari on mobile as well. The process is identical to playing Katamari on a desktop, and you’ll control the sphere by tapping where you want it to go.
