The Ministry of Information Communication Technology (ICT) has announced a blogging challenge for girls.
Presiding over the launch of the competition dubbed #GirlsInICTKe Blogging Challenge, ICT Cabinet Administrative Secretary in charge of broadcast and telecommunications, Maureen Mbaka, said the challenge is aimed equipping the girls with the necessary ICT skills in a digital world.
The challenge was designed by Konza Technopolis Development Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs, as well as Women in Technology by Huawei.
The challenge targets girls mainly in universities and colleges and will focus on areas of interest being championed by the Ministry and Konza Technopolis.
Guided by the Toolkit on Organizing a Girls in ICT event, the activity will use online blogging tools to organize the Challenge.
The tools include WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger, among others.
Those willing to participate are encouraged to submit their blogs between September 27, 2021, and October 11, 2021.

Applicants will be required to fill in their personal details that include names, age, email, county of residence, phone contacts and their profession.
The applicant must also upload a profile photo before attaching a blog document and eventually submitting.
The CAS noted that the government will fully focus to support the uptake of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses and ICT by young women and girls.
She advised participants to use the program to their advantage.
“To all the participants, I am rooting for you. I encourage you to make the most out of this program through tapping into the knowledge and nuggets of wisdom that the trainers and judges will share throughout the project,” the CAS noted.
