The motorist who was caught on camera driving recklessly on Moloto Road in Pretoria is expected to appear in the Cullinan court for his first appearance, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) said.

Video footage of the incident, which took place late last year, was widely shared on social media.

In the video, the driver is seen pulling stunts from his Range Rover while the vehicle swerved from lane to lane.

Just before this driver was arrested Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula, warned that he will be held accountable for his recklessness on the road.

“I am pleased to report that the man who was recorded driving a Range Rover recklessly and protruding from a driver’s window has been identified by investigators from the Road Traffic Management Corporation [RTMC].

“His arrest is imminent and he will face the full might of the law for his unacceptable behaviour that places the lives of other road users in harm’s way,” he said

Meanwhile, police are still searching for the driver of the Range Rover who dangerously drove through beachgoers in the water before ending up with a partially submerged SUV on New Year’s Day.

A video of his dangerous show was shared all over social media. Another video shows the SUV stuck in the water with five people standing next to it. One walks out of the water.

The incident happened at Pelican Island located in the port of Richards Bay in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The spokesperson of uMhlathuze municipality, Mdu Ncalane, said the driver violated municipal bylaws and other regulations.

“He also posed danger to people who were at the river. The police are looking for him and will make an example out of him to show that breaking the law was unacceptable,” said Ncalane.
