Former House of Representatives member, Chief Akpodiogaga Emeyese has said that Nigeria still has reason to celebrate at 61 despite the challenges rocking the country.

Emeyese, who represented the Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta, said this in an interview with newsmen in Benin, NAN reports.

He noted that Nigerians had every right to celebrate for the fact that it was still one and struggling to remain one united country.

“I believe we have every right to celebrate at least for the fact that Nigeria is still a united country.

“Other than that, if you ask me, there is really not much to celebrate.

“There are more issues ranging from a high level of insecurity, incessant killings, inflation, falling standard of education, lack of adequate health care to mention but a few that rocks the country.

“But amidst all these, we are still together fighting as one and I believe that one day we must get it right, starting from electing good leaders.

“There is no doubt that our leaders have over the years and up to date failed.

“But we still believe that visionary and purposeful leadership will take Nigeria to the promised land considering the numerous human and material resources available in this country,” he said.
