Manchester United are just one of the Premier League clubs keen to sign Sam Johnstone this summer, with West Brom demanding as much as £20m for their number one goalkeeper.

The Red Devils already boast an embarrassment of riches in their goalkeeping department with Dean Henderson and David de Gea both vying to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-choice shot-stopper.

It’s been well documented that United are currently splashing out more than £500,000-per-week on wages for their goalkeeping arsenal. However, with Lee Grant and Sergio Romero both expected to leave at the end of the season and the club exploring the possibility of moving De Gea on, reinforcements may be required.

Johnstone has been in stellar form this season and has been one of the highlights of the Baggies’ disappointing campaign.

Sam Allardyce’s men are ten points adrift in their bid to retain their Premier League status, and with just four games of the season remaining they’re already pricing up some of their prized assets with relegation on the horizon.

Johnstone undoubtedly falls into the category of players who will attract interest from top-tier sides, and The Telegraph report that they’ve placed a £20m valuation on their shot-stopper with United monitoring his displays.

Solskjaer’s side aren’t the only interest party with the report going on to add that Johnstone is also on the radar of Tottenham and West Ham.

Spurs’ bid to bolster their goalkeeping options has been documented for some time, with club captain and first-choice shot-stopper Hugo Lloris seemingly becoming even more prone to making costly errors in recent seasons.

Should United be dragged into a bidding war as they look to secure Johnstone’s services, it’s understood that fellow former United goalkeeper Tom Heaton is also on their wish list this summer.

Having missed roughly a year of football following a nasty injury last season, Heaton has found himself playing second fiddle to former Arsenal man Emiliano Martinez since regaining match fitness and so could be open to leaving Villa Park.
