Geita. Security firm SGA has been praised for its technological advancement that enabled it scoop an award in the category of electronic security technology and security services providers.
The company was handed the award during the fourth International Mining Technology Exhibition in Geita which closed on September 28, 2021.
SGA took the third overall winners’ award at the exhibition in 2020 for category of technology suppliers and mining facilitators
The company emerged first in the Transportation and Security Technology category during the expo that brought together over 400 participants from in and out of the country.
The event was presided over by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa Kassim.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Minerals, Hon. Doto Biteko praised SGA Security for its technological advancement over the years saying it is something that has put it an edge above the rest in the process building confidence among mining companies.
“There is need for more collaboration with the government to ensure our minerals are safe and that those with ill motives are contained,” said the Minister.
He thanked SGA Tanzania for being part of the sponsors of the mining expo which is an annual event that brings together different mining stakeholders to showcase their activities.
The Geita Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, called on small and large scale miners to make use of advanced security technology.
“This will ensure more efficiency and safety of your property even in ypur absence,” she said.
Speaking after receiving the award, the SGA Tanzania sales and marketing manager, Faustina Shoo, said that this award signifies the excellence in technological investment the company has made over time.
“Some people think that security is all about a watchman holding a club but there is more to that, SGA has invested a lot in advanced security technology and this rates the company highly compared to the rest,” she said.
She added: We were able to demonstrate how our latest solutions can enhance security in the mines by eliminating chances of losses of property and safety of people. With this solution, the mine will be a secure place to work in and the government will achieve its mission of controlling the products from the mine for the overall economic development”, she said.
SGA Tanzania Managing Director, Eric Sambu, expressed joy at the recognition given to the company, saying that they deserved it.
He congratulated the team for demonstrating the capacity of the company and technological strides made to accord the customer value for money. He reiterated that security is important in enabling investments and optimising productivity and SGA is proud to pay a key role in economic development of the country.
He said SGA was the first company to operate as a private security company in Tanzania and it has proven that taking care of staff in the key to succeeding in security business.
