    Abiria 87 wakiwepo wafanyakazi 25  wa meli ya MV Mbeya II wamenusurika kifo baada ya  meli hiyo kupigwa na mawimbi ikiwa safarini Ziwa Nyasa na kukwama kwenye mchanga karibu na Bandari ya Matema.

    Mkuu wa Wilaya ya Kyela, Claudia Kitta ameieleza kuwa tukio hilo limetokea jana Jumatatu Aprili 3, 2021 saa 12 jioni.

    “Jana saa 7 mchana tulipata taarifa ya meli ya mizigo ambayo ilibeba vifaa vya kusambaza umeme wa Rea ilititia wakati inatoka Songea kuja Bandari ya Kyela lakini wataalam walifanikiwa kuitoa na tukajua hakuna shida na ilipofika majira ya saa 12.00 jioni tukapata taarifa kwa meli yetu ya abiria kusukumwa na mawimbi na kutitia,” Kitta

    “Ilionyesha ilisukumwa na mawimbi makali na hivyo kufanya mawasiliano wa  mamlaka husika ambao walifika na kuitoa kwenye tope, walipoichunguza hawakubaini madhara yoyote na imeendelea na safari.” Kitta
